1967 327 dip stick tube loose

The dip stick tube on my 327 is loose and will move side to side. What would be the best way to tighten the tube so it remains in position.
Thank you in advance for any information.

You could try knurling the interference fit section of the tube to upset some metal and tighten the fit. However, I do not recommend this. The best plan is to install a new tube. You can obtain a new tube from GM under GM #3865664. This tube differs slightly from the original in that the upper portion is not swaged to a slightly reduced diameter like the original but it will work perfectly. However, you can obtain an exact reproduction from reproduction source like Dr. Rebuild, Paragon, Corvette Central, etc.

      Phillip,
You can also clean the tube & hole with a good solvent and use JB weld, I recommend the slow. If you put it on the tube and make sure the tube isn't moved till it cures I am sure your problem will be solved.
Sounds like a BUBA repair, but it is done all the time. I found it dealing a hole in a magnesium oil pan on a aircraft engine I took apart. It was in the inside and not affected by the heat or hot oil.
There is a tube in most shops. It won't put a broken rod back together but your tube won't move again. The new tube is a great idea because it can be removed a few times to do work where the JB will make it hard to remove. The JB can be removed with extreme heat. I have also found silicone sealers on the tubes. Joe mentioned knurling. You can also find or make a metal piece to force in the tube to expand it. I have found that small sockets fit in some and slightly expand the tube if you want to keep original.

like Dom said I expanded my 66 tube with a drift pin. just have to be sure you don't go to far then it wont fit.
