I just got my frame stencil from Quanta for my Oct 62 built car, and the last digit which is the sequence digit which I thought should be 1 thru 5 is the letter "P", Can anyone tell me why I do not have the #1. Also I have heard that early of a car has the stencil on the left side of the frame rail. Thank you Jeff

Re: 63 frame stencil
Jeff,
My 63 Coupe SN 10,XXX has it's frame number on the left rear upside down 303196-2-P and 3819263 just directly above that frame number. It also had a number mid frame on the left side upside down 836.
If you need them I can post them including the original lettering on the frame and the reproduced lettering on the frame.

Re: 63 frame stencil
Jeff,
Doesn't surprise me at all that the judging manual is wrong AGAIN! Hundreds of corrections have been sent in and ignored time and time again.
Well here's some proof of what a 63 should be!

I don't know anything about '63 frame stencils, but I've put a fair bit of effort into researching '66 frame stencils. During my research, I spoke with Kelly W. at Quanta, who is the person at Quanta who deals with frame stencils on a regular basis. It's also my understanding that Quanta has the best database of information on Corvette frame stencils, including photos of unrestored original frames on cars in the process of restoration. Quanta understandably guards that information as valuable IP. Have you called Quanta to ask them about the letter P vs. a number in your stencil? Baring a mistake in creating your stencil, I suspect Quanta has a good reason for the P, such as images in their database of known originals with VINs near your VIN that have the P. So, I suggest you call Quanta and talk with Kelly just to confirm that the P is not a mistake.
