    c2 1965 Hard Top judging

In 1965 1,277 corvettes were built without the folding tops, NAdams page 269 restored tech guide 2 - however the ncrs judging manual says page 57 under hard tops, a soft top must be in place in the rear storegae compartment. If the soft top is not present assign a 50% deduction in the org to the hard top .
So is that 50% off the exterior trim , 50% off the rear window logo and date and 50% off weatherstrip and side window seals.

When the vette was ordered without a soft top - any help as always would be good - am going to see a hard top only 65 in the next few weeks - anything else I need to look for ? are there any easy signs it did or didnt come with a convertible top cheers Keith

My 5th edition of the Judging Guide page 31 says "Hardtop only cars do not require a folding top, however, they must not have any folding top related hardware."

Hardtop only cars will not have the softtop latches mounted on the deck lid.

Hard top only cars had one original bolt down in each pillar mount to keep the backing plate from rattling.

This subject is also covered by David B in the most recent issue of the Restorer in the national judging chairman's message at the front of the issue.

                  Bill,
What's up with the brown stains? It looks like weatherstrip cement.

Tracy . Yep I think this was one of the rare cars that had the bottom side carpeted to keep the noise down . My car was a hard top only and lucky me a past owner made the holes for a soft top latch with a drill . I repaired it with a mold I made from the blue one ,but I would like to find a undrilled one. I tried to buy the one with the glue and its not for sale yet .

                      Bill,

You might try to contact the person who started this thread on the other site. Maybe you can trade him out of his deck lid before he hacks it up.
