67 side window lower track screw & washer?

I have been told my washer is too small (does not cover the hole). Aim shows the washer to be part number is 120392. My washer is the same size as the slotted screw head, both are black phosphate purchased from LIC.

If anyone has information that can clear up this issue please send me your comments. A photo of the washer it would help.

    Thanks.

Ron, I think your problem is the hole in the door, not the screw/washer.

It is common after years of rear window track rework that the hole gets opened up and ovalled over time. This more common on the convertible IMO.

This after a resin/mat "filler" repair then a repaint before re-drilling the hole.

Completed. Note I added another washer to help prevent future problems. The original screw assembly can also be seen at the top position.

I could not say for sure but shouldn't that screw have a integral flat washer in place of lock washer?

Gene, if you're asking me.........Yes that is correct. I deviated from typical for functionality.

IMO, the design was flawed using that small screw on a fiberglass car.

You answered my question and by the way mine in a convertible. I was confident I had the correct screw and washer but not totally sure. Also was thinking I was missing another washer. I thought of adding another washer like the one shown in you photo. Now I will to exactly that and risk a 1 point deduction.

          Thank you Richard.

The lower screw gets a captured flat washer 5/8" od. They are not making this screw you'll need to find originals. I have some if you might be interested.

Good catch Rich. AIM UPC 1 Sheet K5 shows the flat washer separate from the screw, but on both top and bottom.
A bit confusing..... as Item 7, the washer, has a note "19437", for the coupes. Not for the 19467's ???

Confused yes... I was told by a master judge at the Marlboro regional (I was OJ)that the washers were only used when the screw hole got to big ?

Nope typical factory production called for the large captured washer screw on the bottom....no washer. The top screw got the screw with the small captured washer an sometimes a small washer placed inside the door between the metal part of the door and window channel, this was done to remove play if the window would move back and forth. This is how all the original cars I have restored and seen were assembled. The only time a large washer was installed on the bottom was a later repair.

Good call Rich.... I guess the judges were correct in saying that the washers were also used for repair when the hole was enlarged...
