I agree with Rick. Great rates and good insurance and you end up supporting the NCM. They will also insure newer corvettes

Re: Time to shop for new insurance company's
Mike,
Would you mind sharing who you are dissatisfied with and why? The reason I ask is that most of us have never had any claims, so we have no way to know how our insurers will treat us when push comes to shove. I have had Condon and Skelly for over 25 years, but have had no claims experience with them. I went on various forums to check what experiences others have had with them and have come to the conclusion that they are one of the best. The only way most of us will find out how well claims are handled is by others experience or on our own loss, when it may be too late.

Mike,
I tried NCM to comparison shop but they do not insure us folks from Massachusetts. I have had Condon and Skelly for 25 years and they seem very good. Rates are definitely competitive. Like most I have never had a claim. Might be worth a try.- Top

I agree with Rick and Ed, I have both my 67 (stated value) & my 03 insured with them and I'm very happy.

Re: Time to shop for new insurance company's
Nothing is more useless than a "stated value" policy - it's no different than the standard auto policy on your daily driver, and leaves you out in the cold when the insurer decides (100% on their own) how much they'll pay you for your total loss. All the "stated value" verbage does is to protect the insurer by placing a cap on the maximum amount they will pay. You need "agreed value" or the new "guaranteed value" coverage (they're the same).- Top

Hi John,
My bad.
It is actually an agreed upon value with State Farm.

Re: Time to shop for new insurance company's
I've actually had to make a claim with JC Taylor last year. They paid up quickly and had no issues taking it to the most expensive shop in town. The only issue I had with them was that they (probably their computer system) automatically reduced the agreed value of the car by the amount of the repair and immediately sent me a partial refund of my premium for the rest of the year based on the lesser value. That would have been expected if I hadn't put it in the body shop right away, but it would have been nice if they'd given me a couple of months or even a couple of days to get the repairs done before making alterations to the agreed value. I don't know, maybe all these companies do the same thing. Foremost Insurance is I guess the underwriter and who I dealt with on the actual claim. They were great. JC Taylor is just the agent and they weren't nearly as quick to reinstate my agreed value after the repairs were made as they were to reduce it after the claim. I emailed the receipt for the repairs and photos and never got a response confirming that they had received it. I left a couple of phone messages and they didn't call me back for three days. They weren't hard to deal with, but could have been more communicative. I'll still stick with them.- Top

Re: Time to shop for new insurance company's
There have been several discussions on this topic over the years and there are as many opinions as there are insurance companies that are anxious to take your money. Many have used the argument that the only difference is the premium. Very few (thankfully) have had to make claims and really have no idea how their insurance company will handle it. The real question is: How will any given insurance company settle my claim if I have one? The only way to know is to have a claim. And I have had a claim with Hagerty. Based on my experience, I don't care how much cheaper this or that company's premium is I will NEVER switch from Hagerty. I don't think anyone could have done more and been more understanding of what it takes to recover from a claim situation. I won't go into the details of my claim but suffice it to say that at no time did they question any aspect of what I wanted done and where I wanted it to be done. Paint repairs alone were over $4000 (10 years ago) and other parts needed took over a year to find -like an NOS door panel- and sometimes a written invoice for a part could not be had. No matter, a check was sent within days of sending in a claim and every part was paid in full as well as any labor. And I was very honest at the time I made the initial report and told them that the fire was my fault. The person on the other end of the phone said all that was important to them was to make my car as it was and to my satisfaction. No adjuster was even sent to the paint shop that I picked- just a check for the full amount of the estimate within days. I can find no fault or reason to ever change to another company. I'm sure others will have their opinions but real claim experience trumps everything else.
