68 Air Conditioning compressor muffler

I'm missing all the engine compartment air conditioning components for my 68. This is an original AC car and I want to reestablish the air conditioning. Most of the parts I need are available with the exception of the compressor muffler which was only used for the 68 model year (used mufflers are extremely expensive). As I don't plan on having the car judged I am thinking of ordering a 67 muffler which fits on the A6 compressor. Has anyone else done this with success? Any advice would be appreciated.

The engine is a 327.

I would think a 60's A6 muffler would be fine.

Dan, if you're referring to the 3923139 muffler, that was used on the Corvette from 63-68 and on a lot of other passenger cars and trucks. i.e., 1964-1968 Chevelle (6 cylinder), 64-72 10, 20 and 30 series trucks (6 cylinder), etc...

Shouldn't be that difficult to find one with a reasonable price.

Ed, Dan --- Here's a 3923139 that I bought from a local Calgary Alberta Chev dealer in the early '80s. As you mention, my P&A30B catalog shows this as '68 and services all Corvette back to '63. Anyway, I knew it wasn't correct for my '65. I put it on just to have something to connect the hoses to; I never got my air working (nor do I need to in the far north ), so it's never seen Freon. The hex caps are brass with cad plating, which is partially worn off.

Appreciate if a '68 expert can tell me if this is really the correct "production" configuration.
