    Upper Front clip Brace

In my 69 base model restore I am up to the part where I am riveting the bonding strip to the upper brace. I would like to know if the rivets used were tubular or solid, Alum ?. The size and where I might be able to get them or something close.
    Thank you for any help
    Roger

What are you calling the "upper brace"?

The V shaped metal brace that attaches under the front clip and also the ends attach to the inner fenders and the headlight assemblies also attach to. It has a bonding strip that gets riveted to the brace and then the brace is glued to the body.

        Hi Roger,
What did they look like on the bar from the clip you're working on? Or was it already removed?
In looking at the up-set side of the rivets on my 71's header bar reinforcement I'd say they're the typical large flat headed soft aluminum rivets used many places on the body.
The info I have only lists the group# for the rivet used there, not the part number so I don't know for sure what it is. Maybe 1/2" long, 3828546
They're readily available from the usual venders but depending on what length you buy the shank might need to be trimmed to have it set properly.
        Regards,
        Alan

I've thought that the tubular rivets were used in fastening situations in which the parts need to pivot like convertible top frames and wiper door mechanisms.

Hi Alan, I think you are right with the rivets. They do look like the alum. ones used on other parts. What threw me was the dimpled look once riveted.
          Thank you
          Roger
