Good point, I have seen the converters listed for 49 States and can't ship to California. As I understand it, can't even convert to dual exhaust with 2 California Convertors.

Yes, single catalytic converter systems cannot legally be converted to dual in California. In fact, I don't think that's even legal under 49 state applicable federal requirements.

Do you think a high flow Catalyic Converter would make enough difference to do some massaging?

A modern monolithic catalyst is less restrictive than the original bead bed type, but still, just one will cause high exhaust backpressure. I don't any data to quantify it or the exact effect on output with massaged heads.

Most modern replacement cats are three-way, but will work in two-way OE applications. I suggest you visit your locak Referee and get some advice on a legal replacement. They are usually set up at junior colleges.

It's illegal to modify the exhaust system from it's factory configuration, so a dual cat system will fail visual inspection, even if it passes the tailpipe test with flying colors, or unless the manufacturer gets a CARB Executive Order (EO) via testing the system at a certified emission testing lab.
