    Chuck McSheehy - R.I.P.

It is with a heavy heart that I let you know of Chuck's passing on March 22nd. NCRS Member #2782
He was a great friend to many and a passionate Corvette and family guy. He had a special connection to Rochester fuel Injected cars. Lots of us have great Corvette Carlisle memories as he attended every one since they began in 1982. Chuck was originally from Massachusetts where he had lots of Corvette connections and then retired to Florida in 2004. He was a retired Local 103 Boston Electrician. Please keep "Chuckie" and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

        Dave,

Thank you for posting this. I will miss one of the best friends ever in my life. We met through our Corvette fun 8 years ago after I moved to Florida. He and his wife Teresa, Cathie and I always had Corvette fun together and will always remember the good times.

Rest In Peace my Good Friend....

        Rich

Been a tough day, now I want to remember the good times.

I took these photos back in 2010 when he Top Flighted his '65 coupe at Kissimmee.... on his birthday! Then later that year at the Nationals in Charlotte. We had a great time at all of the events, and Carlisle a few years ago under the tent.

I want to remember him just like this.............

Kissimmee 2010 after his TF. Self restoration.

I always loved this photo. This was Charlotte, 2010. Funny story, but not at the time. We laughed about it all the time later.....Thursday we unloaded the trailer and he wanted to prime the W/S Washer before judging. Wiper Motor inop. We scrambled to pull the glove box and dash bits and those awful attach bolts to get the motor out. This on a Fuelie to boot. We got it out, pulled the motor all apart. The commutator & brushes were seized from sitting too long. Got it all back together, drove it on the Judging field by 5PM. Whew! Just made it! TF Saturday!

Carlisle 2013. Chuck(L), Fran(R). Chuck and I shotgunned every few hours in his Tahoe full of parts and my 10x20 tent, from FL at 6AM and got there at Midnight. His last time to Carlisle since going from the 70's.

Chuck fought a lot of medical demons, and he is now a peace. A real 65 fuel injection enthusist, and a super nice guy.

I got a call in Nov 2006 from Luke Rizzuto who lives in Northern California who told me he had the original window sticker and POP for his original fuel injected convert he sold in 1973. I inspected the 65 FI REGISTRY, AND .... WOW, he was the original owner of Chuck's roadster. So I put the two of them together. They celebrated at Kississmee in 2013, with both cars. REAL FUN with REAL CORVETTE friends. CHUCK, RICH and I laughted a lot at 2013 Carlisle.

Hi John, Yes, it's been a tough loss. Chuck always spoke so highly of you and all of the other FI guys. Last year he and I rebuilt that '61 unit together and I learned so much from him. Over this last 9 months, he wasn't up to much of anything so I had to put it aside. We got it about 95% done. I was hoping he'd get better so we could rejoin the task together, as I deliberately put it aside waiting for his health to improve. Sadly, I won't have his guidance with the completion. However, being my "First Fuelie", I will dedicate it to him, albeit with a heavy heart and mixed emotions. The day I get it running, I hope he'll be looking down from "Fuelie Heaven" with a smile that he helped me succeed.

Jim, Thanks much for your thoughts. As you know, Chuck has had not only his own health issues, but for the last 2 years, his wife Teresa has been battling her own rare illness. Now she is left alone with her struggles, and sadly is near the time to join her husband.

I will never forget the day you called me and told me you found Chuck's car's original FI unit on that CL ad in Utah IIRC. I called Chuck right away and he couldn't believe it. When Luke drove out to Kissimmee with his friend John in Luke's '65 for the 2014 Regional, we all had such a good time. We'll never forget the good times we had. Luke sent me a note the other day after my saddened email to him. We were going to try to do a Key West excursion in the future. Chuck was going to take his car, me in my '59, and Luke in his '65. We now still may do that, in memory of my best friend.

Sad to hear of Chuck's passing. I first met him when I went to look at his maroon 65 fuel car just before he moved to Florida. While we never came to an agreement about a sale I did count him as a new friend. We would meet at Carlisle occasionally and in the last year or two I would check on his well being through mutual friends. R.I.P. my friend.
