    Battery drain 1982 Collector car

I have a battery drain that will fully discharge the battery in about a week on 1982 Collector Car, My solution was to disconnect the battery when not in use. A friend just acquired a 82 Collector car and has the exact same problem. Can't find any obvious solution. What's going on??

Try to narrow it down by pulling one fuse at a time and check the battery volts with a meter

I was trying to avoid doing that because of the difficult location of the fuse panel. I was thinking because the same problems showed up on two identical 82 vettes there might be a typical/similar problem with the Collector Car.

On most cars that still have electronic clocks, the solenoid will slowly discharge the battery when the car is not used daily. Suggest a battery tender for the time off not using your car.

Hope you find your battery drain Ted. I disconnect my c3's batteries negative cable when the cars are not going to be used. I disconnect the negative cable from the frame, real easy access and real quick using a short ratchet and socket. Sure is easier than going behind the drivers seat and disconnecting the negative cable in the battery box.

I don't know of anything unique to the CE that might be causing this problem. Standard troubleshooting should be able to pinpoint the cause.

Another question is "how good is the Battery"

Battery is new and starts out fully charged.

Thanks, I'll check out where that ground attaches to the frame.
Do you disconnect them because they drain the battery if left connected?

Ted, nose around and look to see if anything is lit such as a glove box light, and not sure if 82 had it but the use to a lamp under the spare tire area, under hood light, these are common things to give a draw on the battery.

Ted I disconnect the negative cable just to maintain the current battery charge. My C3's can sit for weeks. I believe/think the size of the bolt attaching the negative cable to the frame is 5/8's.

The car should be able to sits for months without the battery going dead.
