    56-62 soft top mounting brackets

Help out an old forgetful guy, please. Is my memory correct that the 56-60 bracket has the round hole and the 61-62 the elongated one, or do I have it backwards?

Mike - the early brackets up to '60 have the elongated hole, the 61-62 outer brackets had the round hole.

      Mike -

1962 #9372 has the slotted holes. I can photo if you need. It appears to be original in that area.

When I bought my 61, the PO had sold off the soft top due to using the car for racing purposes and only a hardtop. In the stash of parts were a pair of outer soft top brackets but while trying to install all the brackets, I discovered the brackets I had were for the earlier body style. This is a pic of those early brackets. That upper mounting hole is more oblong than slotted.

Gotcha, I stand corrected. Are you attending the regional? My 62, # 9372 was sold new at O'Reilly in Tucson.

David - That 'slot' in the early outer brackets is not very pronounced and at a quick glance looks to be no different than the round hole in the later brackets. That hole in the later brackets is a bit large so maybe they decided to allow some 'slop' by going to the larger round hole than the earlier oblong setup, I dunno. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to make it to the regional, we built a new house here in Prescott and moved in late last year but with the way I get around to doing things...like setting up the new garage, it's taking all my time. Wish I could be there considering it's not that far away. Will you be attending?

Regretfully not, maybe Joplin. A lot closer for me from the St Louis area.
