Looking for the original part number for a 66 L79 carburetor gasket, is it the same as the base 300 (3890495)? Also does the L79 use the stainless baffle like the base 300 (3884575)? If not would it hurt or help putting one on with heat soak? Thanks in advance sincerely Brian

The original gasket for the L-79 was GM #3849825. It was discontinued without supercession in April, 1982. Dr. Rebuild has excellent reproductions.
The purpose of the stainless baffle was to protect the carburetor from the direct exhaust heat from the carburetor flange heat slot. Only the base engine used this heat slot, not the L-79. I doubt the baffle will do you any good. The main insulating device is the gasket; the baffle will add little, if anything, to that.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
