    Door panel manufacturer?

I am familiar with finding an ink stamped date on the back side of door panels that are original. A '64 door panel that I removed had the lettters MSW ink stamped in black with no date code. I suspect it is a reproduction.

Does anyone know who MSW is?

I don't recall the name of the company however I have what I believe to be an original set of 64 door panels with the MSW stamp and no date.64 Door Panel.jpg

Bob thanks for the reply. The old saying "never assume" may apply. I was assuming they are repops but was not 100% sure as everything under them was undisturbed. All the trim on the panels was just too uniform and neat. As in the stainless trim tangs that are bent over for retention.

The car has what I believe to be original paint. The carpets although dried out and the foam disintegrated are original. Maybe the door panels are as well.

I hope others that may be in the know will chime in one way or the other.

I just took the door panel off of my unrestored 64 coupe and was disappointed that I didn't see a date stamp on the back side. I do however have the same MSW stamp as Bob's pic shows. With the 3 of us having the same stamp on what we believe to be original cars I am of the opinion that for 64 original panels had that MSW stamp. I feel much better having found this post. Thanks guys!

I can make it four, with my original 64 door panels. And, no date.

Many automotive parts are manufactured by suppliers that have names most folks have never even heard of. That's because these manufacturers supply parts only to the OEM. They have no retail brand, at all.

For what it is worth, I have a set of what I believe to be original door panels for a '64 convertible and they do not have the MSW stamp on them but do have a date stamp (Mar 11, 64). Build date of my car is April 7, 1964.

One more example with no date.

Interesting. So what is the consensus? Were there more than one vendor / supplier for these door panels... which would account for the different markings. Also notice that the font for all the MSW stamps appear to be the same and they are different than the date stamps. My date stamp looks like it was made with a rotary date stamp tool where you rotate a wheel to display a different day, month or year.
