    powder coating C1 cluster

    anyones thoughts on having a dash instrument cluster powder coated?
    maybe i am over cautious over warping.. powder coating process cooks
    about 400 degrees. thanks for your input...wally

    Wally,

    400 Degrees will warp a C-2 dash beyond recovery. C-2 is made from Pot-Metal (zinc die cast) just like the C-1 dash.
    I don't think I would try that!

      I remember seeing posts on the Corvette Forum about powder coating the cluster. The cluster will apparently shrink so the
      bolt holes do not line up anymore. I did a search on the forum but could not find the post.

        thanks for the replys, sounded like a good idea at the time, and yes , a good way
        to destroy the cluster.

          There is an article in the latest Solid Axle Corvette Club magazine On Solid Ground about someone who destroyed his cluster this way. I like powder coating, but I'd stick with objects made of iron. Good that you asked - for yourself and for countless others!
