    1986 Corvette Rims

I am trying to help out an individual to fully identify a set of four Corvette Rims that he received from his father. He was told that they were for a 1986 Corvette.
Part Number 14092813-date code 85/09 and 85/10. Left Hand
Part Number 14092814-date code 86/03. Right Hand
Part Number 10052094-date code 87/04. Obviously this is a 1987 wheel.
    They all are 16X9.5 Rims.

My understanding is that the 1986 Base Rim size was 16X8.5.

I checked the Chevrolet/Corvette Parts Book for C4's and did not find these Part Numbers. I did find for 1986 Part Numbers 14094589/90 with a rim size of 16X9.5. For the 1987, the Parts Book shows 10067315/16 with a 16X9.5 Rim size.

I know that sometimes the Part Number in the Book does not match the Part Number on the item under examination. But later Rim Part Numbers in the Parts Book do match the Part Number on the Rim, as they do with my 1995 Rim's.

If anyone can identify these Part Numbers, I would appreciate any help. Also if they do not match the Base Rim size, what is the Base Rim Part Number.

    Thanks

    Thanks

I can't confirm what they are. However, if they appear to be the Corvette wheel configuration I'm about 99.9% confident that the 14092813 and 14092814 are 1986 Corvette wheels. The part number series is consistent only with that year. Sometimes, the numbers embossed on castings are simply a casting number for the raw casting and are different than the finished part numbers. Sometimes, the casting and part numbers are the same. Why? Well, I think that at some point GM started to figure out that the difference in numbers was quite confusing and made some sort of effort to "align" the numbers. They have not totally succeeded even to this day but I think the situation is a lot better now than it once was.

1986 wheels the center hub was all natural aluminum finish the outer air vanes had a sparkly gray textured finish. 1987 wheels the center hub had a gray painted finish and the outer air vanes also had this gray finish. Here are some good photos of a 1986 wheel and 2 of a 1987 wheel. Hope it helps.

I believe '84 & '85 had black centers. Wheel widths were 8-1/2 on front and rear with the exception of cars with Z51 they had 9-1/2" widths on the rear. A few non Z51 early 1984 cars had 9-1/2" on the rear, I bought new. I'm not sure if the raw castings were the same for all years.

I don't think the wheels in question could be 84 or 85 wheels. The casting number series post-dates that period.
