    Temperature Sender 1970 Part number(s)

I saw an earlier post stating the part number as GM #6400759. Did that part number replace a previous GM part number 1513130?

    Thanks,

    Bill

Yes, the GM #1513130 was replaced by the GM #6400759 in March, 1967. The 1513130 had a pin-type terminal which, as I vaguely recall, might have been threaded. The 6400759 had a pin type terminal which was definitely not threaded.

The GM #6400759 was discontinued from SERVICE in October, 1965 and replaced by GM #1513321 in October, 1965, the latter being a sender with a BUTTON-style terminal. Then, the GM #1513321 was discontinued from SERVICE in November, 1970 and replaced by GM #546702. The GM #546702 was discontinued in April, 1978 and, strangely, the GM #1513321 was brought back to replace it. Finally, the GM #1513321 was discontinued in June, 1992 and replaced by GM #12334869. Many gauge "calibration" issues have been reported by folks using the latter which remains available from GM and has a button-style connector.

Thank you Joe. In your opinion am I better off with the 3130 or the reproduction unit in lieu of finding an original pin type for a 70 used or otherwise? The later is very tough to find.

I think the 1513130 will work just fine. By the way, I checked and the 1513130 does not have a threaded pin connector; it has a plain pin style connector like the 6400759.
