I My speedometer has stopped working. I have the dash apart and everything looks normal Do I have to take it to a gm dealer to get it serviced . I do not see anything wrong with the board but who knows. I guess my question is what do I do next to get it working.

Re: 88 vette speedo info
Don, the repair of your speedo more then likely cannot be done by the dealer. The repair of those units are specialized now and the unit is no longer in GMs parts inventory. Can you be specific on what stopped? There are some options for repair, but very based on failure. EricLast edited by Eric J.; February 28, 2015, 09:08 AM.- Top

Re: 88 vette speedo info
If it turns out you do need to send it off, do your homework. There are some "ebay" repair vendors that are less then reputable. Search the Corvette Forum. There are a lot of C4 gauge repair stories good and bad on that site. My tach stopped working in my 88 35th. I did a ton of vetting and searching. Turns out my tach filter went bad so I did not send it off. I was surprised at the opinions of some vendors.
One thing I did find is if the car is a Flight judge candidate your options may be limited. If its a driver then your options open up a bit. Eric- Top

Re: 88 vette speedo info
Eric sorry for delay. The vertical digital thermometer section of the display is not working. The speed display figures section is working.
The engine service light is not part of or related to the digital engine/speed display. I do not see and engine display light on. Any suggestions??- Top

Re: 88 vette speedo info
Does it self test at start up or totally dark?
Sounds like the sweep LCD has gone bad. This would require repair. The repair may be something simple like an open solder joint more complicated like a swap of that board. Since its out of the car you could pull the back metal cover and look for a burnt trace or some other obvious failure. Otherwise now we need to find a vendor you can send it to for repair. I have never sent one in so I cannot recommend any. Anyone else have this done?- Top
