I am a brand new member, and this is my first post. I have what I think is a simple question, but looking thru the archives, maybe not. Can someone tell me or describe the information that should be marked on my front and rear shocks? Car has a February build date. Include details of what should be marked please... for example, the actual part # vs saying "part number", etc.. I'm curious to see how well this forum work :-) Thanks, Mike.

Re: 1971 LT-1 Front and Rear Shock Part #'s and correct markings
Hi Mike,
Welcome!
I'll start with a rear shock.
Here's a picture showing the position of the broadcast code sticker on the rear shock and some pictures of the information stamped on the shock.
The shock is from a mid-January, 1971 built car, std. suspension..
Regards,
Alan
Here's the broadcast code sticker location. I don't know how typical this placement was.
The date 227th day of 1970.

Also, if the day of the year on the shocks is <100, e.g., 26, would 026 be stamped, or just 26? Thanks again for the help for a rookie. :-)- Top

Re: 1971 LT-1 Front and Rear Shock Part #'s and correct markings
Hi Mike,
I believe that Julian dating typically were 3 digits for the day. For example the date on the q-jet carburetor for this mid-January1971 built car is 0071. 2 zeros as place keepers.
Here are the pictures of the front shock absorber.
I'm glad your here. How about a couple pictures of the car you're working on?
Regards,
Alan

Re: 1971 LT-1 Front and Rear Shock Part #'s and correct markings
Hi Mike,
Well!
That looks like a very nice LT-!.
Thanks for posting the pictures. It's fun to see people's cars.
When was it built?
Has the car been judged before? From you're question it appears that judging may be in it's future, yes?
Again nice 71!
