Passenger side mirrors

I developed the thought that C1 vettes didn't have right side mirrors because the two/four lane interstate system was not yet developed and there was no need to check for right side lane changes.

When did vettes add right side mirrors ? I've checked Google images thru 1973 models and can't determine when they were added.

The answer may be in the law. It is possible that pass side mirrors were an option before being mandated by law. I do not know for certain but suspect that may be the history.

Passenger side chrome mirrors were not offered as an option for 73 - 76 , but they were offered as a dealer-installed accessory. Option D35 was first available in 77, which substituted dual sport mirrors for the single chrome one. These were painted the same as the car. This was also the case through 78-79, with the exception of the pace car and anniversary editions. They came with the sport mirrors. Late 79s and all of the 80-82s have dual sport mirrors as standard equipment. I hope this answered your question.

My wife Dee still has her 77 she bought new. That was a selling point the sales manager made to her. Painted Sport Mirrors.
