Coil springs

Restoring a 65 coupe, we have ordered the judging manual and are still waiting. Hoping someone can help with coil spring installation. The factory springs have been removed, cleaned and repainted ready for re-install. They are variable rate coil springs and I was wondering does it matter if the tighter wrapped coils are at the bottom or top. When removed the right side and left side were installed opposite from each other.

The closer spaced coils are supposed to be at the TOP. By the way, original coil springs were not painted.

The closer-spaced coil ends always go at the top, as pointed out in your '65 Assembly Manual, in UPC 3, sheet 4, spring chart.
