    Recreating a 1980 Build Sheet

Many thanks to Tom Russo, both for his book and some assistance he's lent me regarding build sheets.

The sheet for my car is just plain missing, and since I'm restoring it as best I can, I wanted to recreate the build sheet. Not uncommon to want to do, but looking at the standard form that would have been used in 1980, there are so many broadcast codes I couldn't even possibly guess accurately at most of them.

Since it's missing, guess I will, but I thought that perhaps if anyone happened to have a 1980 sheet scanned in, I could use that as a basis for mine. I have the original invoice--surprisingly I learned the car was sold at Greenway Chevrolet in Bowling Green, Kentucky, shipped 15 May 1980 from St. Louis. How coincidental...!

Anyone have a scan I could use as the basis for research?

If it were only that easy... Most Google references either say someone found one and wants to preserve it, or they're looking to recreate it just like me. Thanks, but tried that...

Thanks, Rick...! I did see that. However, the link you end up with is essentially Allied-Vaughn, and while what you can obtain from them is supremely helpful, it's not enough information to fully recreate the build sheet. However, what you do get from them (the invoice) is entirely necessary to build the sheet. Just not sufficient. Even so, a well-spent $50, even just to find out the car was sold in Bowling Green For some reason that just makes me smile.

Huge thanks to Charles Casey, who emailed me some images of a build sheet he found in his car (interestingly not for his car). So I have a starting point. Thank you, Charles...
