    65 antenna judging question

I am preparing my 65 for flight judging and have been doing some self judging using the judging sheets. This is my power antenna.

It appears to look like an original except that it is only 8 1/2" when lowered as opposed to 13 1/2" as listed in my Judging Guide.

How would the CDCIF standard be applied, i.e. would it only get a partial deduction because of configuration? Judging sheet lists 10 points for originality and 10 for condition.

    Thanks for your input.

No one can predict with certainty how it will be judged. The original and repros are obviously detectable and one difference is the height. Originals are also thicker than repros. I am not expert enough to tell the difference from you photo. IMO it should only get a partial deduct for height; if original. If repro, I have no idea. It may also get missed altogether by the judges. Each judge will have their own opinion regarding if it is an original versus repro, and what they would deduct.

Bill, can you raise the antenna to the 13 1/2 before the judging??

        Re: 65 antenna judging question

Hi Bill; I have the exact same looking repro unit on my 65' 365 car, with the 9.5" mast height. My car got dinged for a couple of points in 2012 at a Chapter meet. I have since bought an original restored unit, and am planning to install this spring. After all the work you have invested; I would strongly suggest finding a restored unit and getting it on the car. It's something you will look at every time you're near the car. Silver is a great color on a 65 ! Enjoy; David K

Yo will find there are a number of differences in this antenna and an original. Height when retracted, height when extended, grooves on the mast sections, motor configuration, color of coating on motor etc.. Check with Gregg at c2powerantenna.com. He gets them right on.
