67 odometer trip set cable & knob mount

This was in another post (what is it ) today.
My trip set on my 67 was screwed to that piece. I have no picture but the other post did.
Can ANYONE show me where the trip set cable & knob mounts on a 67?? I have spent over 5 hrs looking for this in the manuals and the only pic I saw was in the owners manual just to the right of the column. I tried G 216 in the AIM and nada. I was carefull to keep the mounting bracket on the cable end when I removed it a few years ago. I have laid on my back under the cluster for a loong time and can only find a posible mounting hole to the left of the column.
This is holding up my completion of the dash as I am not going to install the left A/C duct untill I mount the cable & knob.
Back to the shop and look again for the gazillionth time. Wait!! Gazillion is Dukes word!

Re: 67 odometer trip sed cable & knob mount!

    Dom,

Does your 67 have a tele column? If so you might have the first design! It should have been replaced by GM many moons ago!

        Dom,

The first design tele columns were replaced because of some problems and just maybe your column is a first design. I have never seen a first design 67 column but have heard stories of them being replaced by GM with the later design. One was even replaced as the 67 resided in a salvage yard. Just a story mind you but for some reason GM wanted those columns out of the owners hands. Probably a safety issue with the tube.

          Joe,
Thanks again, thats the only thing that makes sence. My best guess is that in 67 the cable just dangled from the cluster as mine will have to unless I make a bracket and mount it as I think it was pictured in the only manual I found it in, (the owners manual).

Domenic, Look on page UPC 12 C2 of the AIM. There is a view of the odometer reset shaft which goes thru a hole on the driver side of the steering mount bracket.

              Stephen,
THANKS, didn't see that, I was looking for it on the other side of the cluster. I have seen a possible mounting hole left side of the column next to the hood release. The pic in the 67 owners manual shows it on the right side of the column which is the side the cable is on.
I now have something to work with and will try to rerout the cable.
              Thanks thanks thanks.

                Stephen & guys,
Thank's it's mounted. Doesn't match the pic in my owners manual but the pic in the AIM Stephen found assured me that it is in the correct place.
NOW I will always wonder where the bracket it was attached to that was in the other post (what is this) came from?
