1981 mystery gauge

I am replacing the speedometer cable in my stock 1981 corvette. As I took off the steering column cover I found a pressure/vacuum gage pushed up in and behind the dash. It looks to be the same age of the car, it was connected to the vac. fitting on the intake manifold and even has a light. Any ideas what is doing there?

I installed a vacuum gauge mounted in a gauge panel, it is a small vacuum gauge, on the bottom right side drivers side dash panel over 44 years ago. I monitor the gauge functions every time I drive my original owner 1970.
