    1958 fuelie exhaust manifolds

What are the correct casting numbers for a 58 fuelie? In my old GM parts book it looks as if all 283 motors shared the same exhaust manifolds in 58. Including passenger cars. Thank you for any help.

Thanks Joe. It is a little confusing when there is a RH manifold for sale on ebay for $1800 with repairs. The seller claims this is for a 58 fuelie. Casting #3732498

The 3732498 was a manifold that POSSIBLY may have been used for the right side on very early 1958 FI's. However, I can't come up with any information whatsoever on this manifold.

I'll bite..... what application is " 57 D-D 8 cyl RH"? Is it a truck with manual choke?

"D-D" is the designation for a "forward control truck chassis" (i.e. a "cab-over" style truck chassis).

It's a choice as to who to believe. Either guys who have studied these cars over many years, and have compiled their judgement into a judging guide, or someone who makes a claim and stands to profit greatly from it. I have a pretty good idea who I'd go with.

                  Re: 1958 fuelie exhaust manifolds

One more thing: the GM #3732498 and GM #3750556 are virtually identical manifolds. In fact, I can't discern any difference, whatsoever, between them although there must be something. From what David mentioned above and from the little bit of research I've done, the 3732498 appears to have been a truck manifold which is why I was initially unable to come up with anything on it. However, I suppose it's possible that it might have been used as an alternate manifold for some 1958 Corvettes, perhaps due to a temporary shortage of 3750556. That's just a guess, though, and assumes that it was EVER originally installed on any Corvettes.

By the way, anyone that would pay 1800 bucks for a USED, REPAIRED example of the 3732498 must be NUTS.

Amen to that! The Rev's comment makes the most sense on this subject.

Trucks used manual chokes so no choke heat stove making it appear to be for FI.
