In the last Issue of Restorer Vinnie was kind enough to publish my story about my '64. In the story I mentioned being able to trace ownership back 3 owners but no further. A couple of weeks after the issue came out I received an e-mail from Norris Wallace (NCRS 6139) telling me he might be able to shed some additional light on the car's other owners. After telling him what I knew about the 2 Georgia owners and sending him a photo taken the day the car was sold to one of them, he gave me a name and phone number for Ronnie Lawrence. I called and explained the situation to Ronnie and sent the photos I have. He identified everyone in the photos (including himself) and explained that the seller at that time was Miller Garrett, who had the '64 and a '65 coupe. Lawrence bought the '65 and the '64 was sold to a previous owner of my car who was known to me. I then contacted Mr. Garrett who was able to tell me who he bought the car from (Randy Dillon of Tucker, GA.) which closed the loop. I have thanked everyone by e-mail and phone and I thank them again here. It probably isn't often that a car's full ownership history is know so I feel very fortunate.
In the last issue of Restorer there was a story about a Corvette originally purchased by USAF 1st Lt. Tom Platt. Tom survived a Vietnam tour as an F-105 pilot and retired as a Lt. Col. One hundred of those missions were into "Route Package 6", the Hanoi-Hai Phoung area of North Vietnam, whose air defenses were the heaviest in history. Tom passed away a couple of years ago. RIP.
