Not so sure that the "H" in the tag of Irving Air Chute belts ( Model 772COR-H '64) is the month of August in the early style midyear seat belts. The "H" seems to be on all the early style belts whether they were made for the 1963, 1964, and early 1965 Corvettes. The early 1963 that had Model 772 COR-C '63. Has anyone seen any other letter in the early style belts.

I think you're right Page. Every set of 64 belts I've seen had the "H" on them. I would guess that it indicates a production/model run, nothing to do with a date.

There were also 2 brands of retractors; #21083, purchased from the original owner, had one of each!

                  Ethan,
Due to the low order numbers, the maroon interior was one of the last colors to receive boots for the seat belts. Typically, seatbelts that were built with boots have the Irving label further up, so it would be readable when installed.

That's interesting Marco, my wife's recently aquired '65 #194675S105756 has retractors but no boots. The Irving labels are attached very close to the stitching at the beginning of the belt

Those labels pictured look typical for having no boots. with the boots the label moved further up.

                        Re: 1965 seat belt

Can some one advise on 1965 seatbelt retractors for my car. Vin build order is 2129, built in Nov. 1964. The car has red interior with original seatbelts that have been restored by Snak-Oyl. The car also had the boots. The problem I'm unsure of is if it originally had retractors? No retractors are evident or they are lossed or were removed by previous owner. Some people say all 65's do have them and yet others say early version cars did not.

Working to restore the car correctly. Can some one set the record straight?

                        Thanks much.

                          Re: 1965 seat belt

Per the judging guide. Early models up to approximately VIN 5,000 may not have retractors or boots. Beginning with approximately VIN 6000, retractors on the outboard side began to appear. Boots sometimes appeared until approximately VIN 16,000 when the boots consistently appeared.
