I finished the block sanding on my 65 . I primed it last spring and let it dry and shrink all summer . The doors, hood, rear deck & top lived in the sun in my back yard all summer . & the body was in the sun in the driveway most days . Its ready for a little spot priming , sealer . and its first coats of paint . I will then reinstall the body panels lightly sand it and paint it with Dupont lacquer . I replaced both qt. panels due to flairs and the complete front end due to flairs and a deer hit . All body panels were GM I bought years ago. The first picture is when I brought it home from storage in 2013. The last few are yesterday .DSCN0981.jpgDSCN1027.jpgDSCN1196.jpgDSCN1314.jpg

Re: 65 block sanding done
Talk about a flashback....we have alot in common Bill as far as our projects go. I also removed rear flares and replaced the entire front clip on my 63 convertible. All NOS except the louver panels from Sermershims. Mine however sat in primer for about 15 years though..
I did finally get it painted last summer and thanks to some of your advice on over thinning the 2 final coats, the Dupont 99S looks fantastic. I am going to wait till spring to buff it, but it really doesn't need much. I think a good coat of wax is really all it needs.

Re: 65 block sanding done
Tracy .I bought this car in 1980 and had it stored until 2013 when I finished other projects . I had some health problems and made up my mind to finish it. 15 years are you sure the primer was dry ? I bet you smile every time you see it .- Top
