Re: 63 Z-06 Option
I'm going to print a copy of it for my car's history book and insert it right next to the Advance Information (A.I. 63-10) bulletin that Chevy published on how to modify a 63 340hp air cleaner housing by adding a flame arrester screen. I first learned of that A.I. About 50 years AFTER I had the crankcase explosion that they noted that some owners reported on! NO KIDDING!!
I never added the screen as it called for mounting it with 2 #6 screws inside the housing and 2 #6 nuts below. Now having previously lost a piston in a 58 Fuelie engine due to a medal pin dropping into the intake I'm not about to put screws inside my air cleaner even with Loctite! Besides, what happened with my crankcase explosion was a fluke (0*F ambient engine re-start after long period of storage) that's not likely to ever happen again in my life time.
