    C2 wiper transmission linkage

This is for my 66. Does the end of the linkage at the transmission end (the ball and socket) simply pop off of the ball on transmission? I would like to remove the linkage to make it easier to clean up the glue and jute from the old firewall insulation, but don't want to remove the transmissions.

I've looked in the Service and Overhaul manuals, and did a search on the TDB but not much luck.

    Thanks,

    Don

The rear of the wiper motor has a post which is accessible on the passenger side of the fire wall. The wiper transmission rods slide over the post and are held in place by a spring loaded clip similar to the one used on the break pedal shaft only smaller. This clip can be removed and the transmission rods can then be removed.

Thank Bob, but I'm asking about the linkage/rod end at the transmission ends not the motor. I wasn't clear, I have the complete dash out of my 66. I have disconnected the linkage/rods from the motor. I'm trying to find out if they can be disconnected from the transmission end without removing the transmissions from the firewall.

Donald, I think it's attached so it can't be removed without surgery.

Thanks, yes I found out the transmission and linkage are an assembly.

If you have these out and there is some "play" in the swaged connection you might want to look into welding the linkage arm to the shaft. Definitely reduces the slop in the wiper movement.

I'll check mine closely. Good suggestion.
