The casting No. on the carrier in my 62 is 3707306 which I cannot find in any of the literature I have. My axle housing has the vent tube that runs from the left side center to the center section and clips to the rear of the center section housing. By turning the rear wheel one rotation and counting the drive shaft rotations it appears to be a 3.70 gear. Both rear wheels turn when turning the other - Posi-traction?? Doing a frame-off and will be ordering parts in the near future. Still trying to find the numbers on the forward facing passenger side of the center section. Appreciate any and all input. Thanks again.

The GM casting number 3707306 carrier was originally used for 1956 Corvettes. However, it can be (and, apparently in your case, has been) retrofitted to later model Corvettes through 1962. Most of these were non-posi units. 3.70:1 was an available axle ratio for 1956 but it's impossible to say whether the innards of your unit are original. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
