Getting a car shipped to a regional

Hello my dad is looking to have his 67 judged at Concord this April for the Carolinas regional. The one problem that is about 500 mikes from home and we do not own a truck and trailer and can't find anyone willing to help us out. I got a quote from a well known transport company who gave us a reasonably price to get the car there. Will this be a problem and will the event accommodate this. Or if anyone is coming from the Gettysburg Pa area to the show with a empty trailer and is willing to help out we have no other option.

Also we are having the car judged at the Mason Dixon Chapter meet the prior month. I know this the two events are close but does anyone see a problem doing this.

    Hey Keith,
We have used Exotic Car Transport and Reliable in the past and have nothing but good things to say about both companies. We used Reliable last summer for the National and it worked out great, I would sugggest getting a quote from them if you havent already. You wont have to worry about the accomodations as many people use these transport companies to get cars to these events. What you might do is put a post on the DB to see if there is anyone out there that already has a truck going to the meet that you might be able to hop on. The other option is to find out who from your chapter is going to the Carolina Regional and see if you can fill a truck, this is what we did for the National last summer.

Are you guys bringing the Black/Saddle car? If so I would love to see it, I have been keeping a database of black/saddle cars and would like to include yours.

    See you in Charlotte
    Chuck

I have used both and was pleased with them. There can be delays getting there on time so keep that in mind. There are many good independents but I have heard horror stories so be careful if you look into that.
I would not suggest requesting a quote on a website that solicits quotes from multiple carriers. I ended up with over 200 emails and calls that were relentless.

Keith. I used Thomas Sunday Auto Transport when I moved to Florida. He's based out of the Carlisle, PA area.

Well, now there's an idea! We drive our 62 to Charlotte twice a year, 480 miles one way. Really fun when you can take your time and run the old country roads. Some of the sights you see are priceless!

Why not drive. One its 500 miles one way. Two dad and I just spent 4 years and countless time and money to get this car the way it is. It only takes one person to mess it up. Driving it is out of the question. That goes against every thing I believe in because I love driving our old cars.

I have always wanted to do this, but every time I have used any auto transporter to get cars for me they can only quote a range of 7-10 days for pickup or delivery. How do you get them to get it there exactly at the start of the meet and take it away right after it finishes? Do you have to sit around for days waiting for it on either end?

That is exactly the reason that the shippers really don't like these meets and the prices are expensive. They can do much better by picking up/dropping off on their own schedule. With the 3 day requirement for Regional events it is very difficult to coordinate and expensive for the rig to sit and wait. At a National they have a 5/6 day window which is a bit better but still not ideal. Truckload pricing works better for the shipper and car owners. Based on experience it is tough to get a truckload but it is possible and if you can get the 5 to 7 cars required it can be very reasonable.
