I'm doing a body off on my '71 LT1 and I have everything removed from the chassis and I'm down to the last 2 bolts, which are the front trailing arm bolts that go through the frame. I have used every type of rust penetrating fluid, I have used a torch, I have actual even burned all the rubber out of the bushing in the front of the trailing arm and still can't get the bolt to come out. I can however rotate the bolt. Should I cut the bolt? I'm half afraid to do that because I still won't be able to get the thing out unless I can push the bolt out of the hole. Any suggestions?

Re: Can't Remove the Trailing Arm Bolt
Bob,
I had to take a sawzall to mine to get them out. Cut the bolt on both sides of the bushing through the pocket in the frame. Like you I tried everything, had them out in about 10 minutes with the sawzall technic.

Re: Can't Remove the Trailing Arm Bolt
Bob,
Just had to remove mine last year, used a sawzall with blades called "the torch", think they were Milwaukee brand. My sawzall is a variable speed which gives you much better control. Still used 4 blades to take care of both sides. Wear gloves!!!

Re: Can't Remove the Trailing Arm Bolt
Bob,
Sawzall. You may want to jam the bolt so it cannot rotate. Be sure to note the quantity, sizes and location of the shims BEFORE you remove them.Judging Chairman Mid-Way USA (Kansas) Chapter- Top
