Should I paint the '61 mufflers for judging

With NCRS judging points as the primary consideration should I high temp paint the mufflers on my '61 or leave as they are? If I should paint them what's a readily available recommended paint?

The 1961-62 Judging Guide on page 86 states: "Mufflers and pipes were painted black (do not deduct if paint is burned off)." I guess it is your call. If it were me, I would use a high heat semi gloss or flat paint.

Thanks. I have a guide. Was wondering if this would get more points leaving them as is - off to the store to buy high temp black and get spraying.

Be sure to place newspaper behind the mufflers and pipes so no paint gets on the underside of the body. I see by the picture that your shocks are red, I would peel of the Delco sticker and shoot some Kylon semi gloss paint on them as well.

If the mufflers are replacement you will often lose on configuration and finish issues already, so the black paint becomes a non-issue with regard to points. However, most of us paint them anyway.
