67 CARPET REPLACEMENT - Best original supplier AK, ACC, Other?

I want to replace my carpet with one closer to original as possible. Which supplier has the closest to the original Bright Blue carpet?

I've used AL K. for seats and top before, never for carpet and recently heard of ACC but know nothing about them.

    Any thoughts.

    Ron,
I think you will still find that of all the blues offered by who ever, they are only a simulation of the original color. I had none that matched the original teal for my 67. I used a piece hidden under the overlap as a guide. So I hand dyed the closest lighter available to get a match to the original. Them I hand sewed the original pinch welting thru original holes to the new carpet. A lot of work but they look correct. Restoration can be more than most will undertake but if the art of illusion is to be acceptable without deduction the extra effort is necessary. But to be realistic most judging does not get that fussy. Be sure to get the correct carpet loop lay & set as that is very noticeable.

Thanks for the reply, Gene. I usually get 2 - 3 points deducted for "carpet too loopy", "seams" but still get Top Flight 96+%. The carpet came from Corvette Central.

It's hard to find areas of improvement without spending $$$. The carpet can use an upgrade due to ware so if/when I do it I would like to pick up 1 or 2 points if I can find the best available replacement carpet.

Ron when you say bright blue do you mean marina blue? I replaced my carpet and headliner years ago with an A K product and had no problem at a local judging meet 2nd flight. I never went any farther though. I will say one thing the headliner was the hardest job I ever had to do on a vette. I would rather change a tranny on my back than do that again.

          Ron,

Ask both ACC and AK to send you samples of their carper for comparison and ask to see the different weaves that ACC offers. I did this when ordering carpet for a '65 396 convertible that I put through flight judging last year. I took the usual minimal deductions for loop and the lack of the double bobbin stitching. I bought carpet from ACC. It fit very well and required the usual t******* and carpet cuts for the seat tracks and seat belts to make it fit just right. The interior carpeting takes a lot of patients to install and make look good. I used my original front carpeting to make the patterns for the seat track cut-outs and for the seat belt anchor bolt cut outs. I have a method of locating and cutting the seat track cut-outs that has worked great for me. This again is a time consuming job that can't be rushed, especially when cutting the carpet flaps that cover the front seat bolts. Here is a picture of the repro carpet samples for both AK and ACC. They are sitting on top of the original jack board cover for comparison.

          Best Regards,

          James West

              Ron,

I used ACC on my 67, but my carpets are the standard black.

There is a couple of threads in the archives on the carpet cuts for a 67, which are different from other C2's. Here's one with a diagram:

Inquiring minds want to know. Has anyone out there, anyone, been satisfied with Romeo Engineering's carpet and service or lack of service and product? Just this Afternoon, I requested a sample and was I wondering, since we're on the topic of carpet replacement.

                    Hi Bill, tanks for responding.

Bright Blue Vinyl is interior code 414 on 67 models. 67's had only 2 blues Bright Blue and Dark Teal blue (very different). Mine is Bright Blue vinyl -Dash, seat covers/backs and carpet.
