There were some very nice, driver quality '63s and '64s that sold last night for under $50K.

Like the 63 Sebring Silver 250hp car? I think Mike Joy said it was original drivetrain. last I saw it was at 35k. Lost track of it and do not know what it ended up going for. Anybody else?

If this is the one then it went for $47,300. Looks pretty nice from the photos.

You can see all the results on BJ's website. You do have to register and give them your email address.

That's one I was talking about, there was also a '63 250HP red convertible that sold for about $40K. It was nice too.

I have them cause I like my cars and enjoy working on and driving them.
One positive thing about higher prices is that it helps people justify spending more money restoring a car.
Outside of C1/2's, Corvettes are some of the most affordable old cars available to the everyday car guy.

Higher prices do not help the real Corvette guy. I missed out on my dream Corvette 25 years ago. a big block tanker in need of a full restoration for the ungodly sum of $40,000.I just had my second boy and could not fit in the project. I would gladly pay twice that today .... but good luck. Any way sold a base model 66 convertible Saturday for $34K in need of paint now time for a 2015.

Re: 67 435 convertible at Barrett Jackson

Please describe a "real Corvette guy". I've met guys from all walks of life. Recently visited with one that worked multiple jobs, saved every nickel and bought a brand new split window. Is he real? I know another guy that just bought his first Vette - a 63, now 52 years old - he's in his mid 40's is he real?

If these cars don't appreciate they are dying. Prices going up indicates that demand is exceeding supply, and we should be happy at that.

And let me just add - you're going to lose more in five years in that 2015 Vette than your 66 brought. Are you a real Corvette guy?

Not sure how to reply to you! In my opinion the car has gone way past its real value! meaning that the normal man or woman who has saved for one can never get to it because you can not catch up.
Wow thanks for telling me that new cars loose value once they go out the door the other 4 mid years that I have will have to get me through the storm!
Real corvette (sorry for saying guy but person) should at least ( baring physical problems) be at least able to change their own oil.

No offense taken, Bill. I just don't understand (new member here) why I read so much in here And other Vette boards about how our hobby is in jeopardy because of a lack of interest in our cars, and there's a sizable contingent of people that say higher prices are bad for the hobby because no one can afford them. Another myth seems to be that all us older farts are dying off and our cars will become worthless because kids don't care for these old relics.

Now, if you think about it there's no way those statements can be true given the fact that these cars sell reasonably quick at ever increasing prices.
Dont worry about freezing people out. Don't freak about rising prices, and don't worry about replacing the old crusty guys.

if you don't buy fully restored 67 big block or other highly desired car etc. "regular guy" can buy an old vette, of course not for what I paid for my first one in 70....435 coupe for $2200 and sold year later for same and was glad to get it.....lol

                          Bill,
That was very well phrased. It's like old toys becoming collector pieces. They originally were intended for kids to play with them. Now only wealthy collectors have them not children.

For sure, a 2013 Camaro ZL1 convertible went for $71,500. You can find them all over the place for $45K to $60K.

I agree that rising prices are a good thing in that it shows that the interest is strong for these cars and will remain so for a very long time.
