    E69 head light switch

I am lucky to have a very original E69 donor car. Question: My project car has the longer headlight switch which the TIM indicates a later model 69 then mine. The donor car has the short stubby knob. Now my project car is a C04 and the donor D05. I would assum then that I need the donor knob. Would that be correct. I will get some pictures.
    Thank You
    Roger

Yes Roger, Both should have the short knob. The long knob started at approx. car 710092 and the last car built in November, 1968 was 709159, so the long knob didn't start until early December, 1968.

Okay Ed now I would like to keep the shorter knob for my car but I have sold the donor pod. How in blazes do you remove the knob stem. I have already loosened the slotted key screw.

The knob is part of the knob/shaft assembly. You have to remove the instrument panel screws so you can pull it forward to reach the little "release button" on the light switch (see picture). Pull the knob out as far as it will go, then press the release button and pull the shaft assembly out.

Ed you are great for getting back to me so fast, a man after my own heart. Looks like the primary car has a newer switch then the donor. They look the same. I wonder if I should use the donor switch. Not sure if it works but it is original. The donor has a broken tach needle also. What has me scratching my head a little is the speedo and tach look so much newer then the donor yet from the backside they appear to be correct. I'll get some pictures.
          Thanks again Ed
