67 BB (400 HP) Oil Cap

I believe the oil cap on my car to be correct and original. Judges in the past have complained about the lack (or slight size) of the dimple on the bottom of the rivet.

On a recent trip to LA I looked through a BUCKET of oil caps and found a few indentical to mine. It has the "S" on the top of the rivet and the "SM" mark twice. It appears to be a double strike.

It has the greenish/blueish color.

Steve, I have seen a few double striked caps, however I would expect to see a much deeper/more pronounced dimple on the underside of the cap. The double strike doesn't bother me, but the width/gerth of the S on the center rivet as well as how shallow the dimple is on the underside would cause me some genuine concern. If I were judging that item, I certainly would bring both of the above to your attention. Regards, and Happy New Year. ARA

I think it's original. Anyone that thinks that every one of these caps was exactly the same with respect to every minor nuance is nuts.

I agree with Joe . Clearly the part is original but a double stamp is NTFP and at judge discretion to deduct or not.

I agree as well - the double stamp of the SM logo does not bother me at all, but the font and size of the S on the rivet as well as the dimple do some.

The cap is original to a 67 BB 400HP!!!!
