I camd across a small booklet by Motorbooks intitled ' Fingertip facts for the 1957 chevrolet'. I am not sure this was a reprint of a booklet Chevrolet printed at the time , but what drew my attention was a fact stated in the booklet in the Corvete section that the Corvette's tough reinforced fiberglass plastic was stronger and more resilient than steel .I wondered if that was just a sales pitch or truthful. This also brought to memory of our shop teachers who drove owned a new 61 Corvette which he drove to school and one day he had a small mishap and ran into something. The front fender was actually cracked in half.So how strong was the Corvettes fibergalss and how were repairs made. If a fender was destroyed was the whole nose replaced since there seemed to be no seam's in the Corvettes fenders like steel cars.

Re: C1 Fiberglass
In a lot of ways the Fiberglass is easier for the hobbyist to repair than steel.
Chevrolet published a booklet early on for the dealers to learn how to repair the new Corvettes.
You can get a copy from our online shop at: https://www.ncrs.org/shop/index.php?...roducts_id=529
There are also some other more recent books that cover the repair and fabrication of parts for the fiberglass body.
