    75 roadster AIR bracket

I put my AIR pump on my L48 for the first time since disassembly. Something doesn't look right. The pump looks cocked. And the belt looks a little twisted.
    Could the bracket be bent?

The pump bracket is cast iron so I doubt it's bent. It could have been repaired (e.g welded) or somehow modified by grinding. Check for these. If not, I suspect something else is the problem.

      Joe,.
I would normally agree. I guess it depends on the alloy.
It does look twisted. Also other brackets I see on ebay show a "bboss on the water pump side. Mine doesnt.
It is the correct "214" casting.

Yes, there should be a very slight raised area at the lower end of the leg. Also, do you have the proper SPACER between the leg and the water pump?

I believe these brackets are cast from gray cast iron, so they shouldn't bend.

          Thanks Joe,
This is a A/C car so there is no spacer, just the A/C bracket. I put a thin washer in between and it did help. But looking down on the pulleys there still is a slight deflection, maybe 1 or 2 degrees comparing the pump pulley and the water pump pulleys. Will this wreck the belt?

I doubt it will affect the belt but I wouldn't want it to be that way.

Nor I dear Joe. Nor I.
I'm going to get another original bracket and see if it makes a difference.

Ok. I bought another AIR bracket.
And it lined up perfectly. I compared the two brackets and my original was twisted. Belts line up great now

Well, I guess the bracket is not cast from gray cast iron. It must be nodular or, more likely, malleable/ductile iron. This surprises me because I can't imagine why a bracket like this would have needed to be cast from nodular or malleable/ductile iron.
