A friend is looking at what is supposed to be a decked 69 L71 . Are there telltale signs to look for on a big block or 435 car?

Bob What do you mean by telltale signs? Do you mean how to tell if it was originally a big block car, or in fact a BB 435 car?
I'm familiar a bit with the '67 L71's but not the '68/'69.

I am familar with the 67 but have no knowledge on c3's, specifically the 69. Any information to help confirm its original the possible identity would be helpful when looking at the car. It's unknown right now if there is a tank sticker. The car is not restored. I'm assuming the rear should have the same style setup as the 67 but that's all I know to look for.

You want to look for are pretty much the same things on a 69 as a 67 to tell if it was originally a 427 car.
Things to check for on a 1969 L71 car:
-6500 red line tach
-Transistor ignition
-Single fuel line
-HD rear end and axle caps
-Copper radiator
-Close ratio transmission if it is a manual
-BB cars had a 15/16 inch front and 9/16 inch rear sway bars
-F41 HD suspension was available as an option on L71 cars
-A/C not allowed as an option

John,
Did the back of the instrument clusters on the C3's have a unique identifying label for the hi-rpm tach, like on the '67's?
