67' front stabilizer link bushing attachment to lower A-arm

When I disassembled the lower A- arms I noticed there's a cup washer (may be pronouncing it wrong) attached to the top of the lower A-arm where the front stabilizer link bushing goes thru.(I believe the rubber bushing sits in this washer that is attached to the A-arm) I can't remember if I removed this metal cup washer or it fell off during cleaning. I can't find in the corvette central magazine how to order this metal cup washer that is attached to the A-arm. I assume it is peened onto the A-arm????

Yes, the stabilizer shaft bushing retainer was peened to the bracket on the lower a-arm. This was an assembly similar to the rear spring cushion inner retainers peened to the spring and trailing arm. Unfortunately, I cannot find that either the retainer or the bracket were ever available from GM as separate parts and I don't know of any reproduction source although there may be one.

If you can't find one I would take a regular stabilizer link cupped washer and weld it to the A arm from the bottom side. Clean up the weld and I doubt if anyone would know the difference.

PS. If you are going to do this, you may want to drill out the hole in the A arm to approx. an 1/8 inch larger than it is which would give you room to weld around the out side of the hole. When finished the hole would then be approx. the original size you started out with. (with weld clean up)

Yup, this would work. Use retainer GM #25628204.

The only difference that would be marginally visible to the eagle-eyed would be this: the original retainer was thinner than the 25628204 (or, any of its predecessor retainers)

Thx guys! You would think this retainer would still be reproduced but I can't find it anywhere

            Dave -

As it was a detail part of a separate weldment manufactured by Chevrolet-Warren, it would only have been serviced as part of the lower control arm assembly; had it been a loose bolt-on part, it would probably have been serviced separately.
