    Floor Mats 77-78-79 ???

    Hi,
Ralph Spears asked me to post these mat pictures for him.
Can anyone help identify just what their origin is?
Ralph believes them to be mats that were in cars when they arrived at the dealership.
    Thanks Very Much!
    Regards,
    Alan

Alan the bottom one is 77, the middle I am thinking 78. the top I think may be 74, as the cat. convertors were on cars 75???? The cut out on the pass side Matt is not there for the hump in floor for the convertor.

Ralph, throw in the LT1 and I will buy all three set.

The left mat in the top picture and both mats in the middle picture resemble factory installed mats from around 78 thru 82. I do not believe the ones with patterned carpet and the "Corvette" emblem in the lower half are factory. If they are factory mats, they will have a part number molded into the backing and most likely marked L or R. Chip.

Paul the lower mat's resemble the 77 only floor mats they are worth quite a bit in there condition. the Mat's in the top photo one is upside down on the right, they appear to be pre cat. convertor years?? the pass side matt does not have a cut out for the raised pass. side floor because of convertor.

Reminds me that I still have a Restorer-article pending that deals with 1977 floor mats - waiting for publishing (for quite some time, now, actually)... Hope to see it printed soon!

DSC00853.JPGDSC00854.JPGDSC00855.JPGFor what it's worth, here are photos of NOS 1978 floor mats purchased shortly after I purchased a '78 SA with red leather in June '78. Bought as an extra set and have been in my attic ever since. Original factory installed mats are still in excellent condition.

The mats have molded "RIGHT HAND" AND "LEFT HAND" at underside and back end of mats with "GB-1" adjacent. No other numbers or letters seen.

77 is the first year for carpeted mats. They are a one year mat with the herringbone style carpet. All the C3 mats before that are black rubber.
