Was it ever verified how many 3 speed standard shift 55 Corvettes were built? Was the 3 speed mounted in the center of the floor like the 56?

Walter,
The NCRS Spec Guide indicated that the 3Spd transmission was released late in 55 and only 700 cars were produced that year. That would indicate very few had the 3 Spd installed. The powerglide was the primary trans but no numbers were indicated in the Spec Guide. Yes, the trans was mounted in the same position as the 56.

last 25 are three speeds. any other three speeds in 55 are questionable and need to be well documented.

I'm not an early c1 guy so this question may be a bit dumb to some.

Were the 3 speed '55 cars all 265 v8's?

all known 3 speeds in 55 were 265s.
