OK as the title says, I'm trying to remove the retainers in the upper windshield molding on a convertible. If I slide 1 to the end that is cut back (this appears to be where you would slide off the retainer), it will not come free due to the end of the molding having the double 90o bend preventing it from sliding off. I tried gently prying it up and out at this location, but was afraid of denting the molding. Any suggestions will be appreciated. TIA

You need to remove the inner garnish moldings in order to expose the access holes in the back side of the windshield frame for a nut-driver to remove the nuts from the studs on the upper molding retainers. The procedure is described and illustrated in the "Corvette Body" section of the 1967 Chassis Service Manual, on pages 1B-5, 1B-8, and 1B-9.- Top

Re: 67 Upper WS Molding Retainer Removal
John, the molding has already been removed. It is the retainer clips from the molding that I'm trying to get out without damaging the molding. I've tried twisting the retainer at an angle and sliding them all the way to the end of the molding where there is a cut back or notch which looks like the proper place to remove them, but the small tab with the screw hole in the end of the molding prevents the removal. I can bend the tab over, but I'm afraid of breaking it off in the process of bending it back and forth. Just wondering if there is an easier way w/o damaging the molding?- Top
