Did the original front lower shock absorber mounting bolts have a serrated washer on the 66 model year? If anyone has a picture of an original it would be much appreciated. Sincerely Brian

Re: 66 Front lower shock bolts
Brian, does the 66 JM have any details? I know that my 63 has serrated washers on the lower mounts, I think that 63/64 maybe the only years, I believe that the most have the lower shock bolts with the fixed washers, just about the same as the hood hinge bolts, maybe a tad longer though. I read my 63/64 JM and its funny that it does not even mention serrated washers. Although I believe that's a era.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 66 Front lower shock bolts
My 66 JM states "The lower attachment bolts are black phosphate recessed hex-head bolts with loose washers" no reference to serrated washers. Hope this will help you!- Top

Re: 66 Front lower shock bolts
The shank just under the hex head, where the washer is, is just under the minor diameter of the thread making these screws a less torque yield when tightening. So use care not to over stress and snap the heads off.- Top

Re: 66 Front lower shock bolts
Brian, I have a mostly untouched 1966, owned since 1967. The shock, lower bolts have a recessed head, with a plain flat washer that stays with the bolt, someone mentioned captured washer. The end of the bolt comes to a point, and the head is marked with a C, with 3 lines going through the letter.- Top

Re: 66 Front lower shock bolts
Jerry serrated washers with pointed ends are correct for 63 shock lower mountings, if you still have them that’s great, 63 has serrated washers in a few locations. If you need more info on locations let me know.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
