On a 65 conv. was the 4 retainer clips that hold the fuel door ring to the rear deck painted body color ?

I don't recall definitively, but I just went through all of my photos from the Body Shop and Paint Shop that show the gas fill door opening on both coupes and convertibles, and none of them show those "U"-nuts, which says they were installed after paint (like the "U"-nuts for the cowl vent grilles).
