    1962 radio replacement

    Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas

Is there a company that makes a retro fit radio that looks like the original wonder bar for a 1962, that is AM/FM with a CD player and is a quality product? Appreciate any info.

    Thanks

Antique Automobile Radios makes the only repro radio that looks anything like the original - even the Wonderbar works and its AM/FM. They are pricey at about $590. I have two in my cars. http://www.antiqueautomobileradio.com/ Quality is spotty though...both mine work fine but one had to go back for a warranty repair. These radios have a pin jack (like for headphones); you can use an RCA to pin jack adapter for adding devices (I added bluetooth to mine); you could do the same with a CD player but I don't know where you would hide the player in that small cockpit. You will need a speaker for this setup (original speaker won't work). Eckler's 140W single cone, dual voice coil is the best ... about $59

You would be much better off playing Pandora via bluetooth to the radio or hook up an iPod or music memory stick than trying to cram a bulky CD player in a C1. It'd have to go in the trunk IMO. Here is my '61 setup playing via satellite radio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SA7Wye5470g
