Re: 66 - brake calipers
If you're referring to the bolts that retain the calipers to their brackets, the 1-1/4" bolts are used for the front calipers and the 1" bolts for the rear calipers. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 66 - brake calipers
Joe/anyone - as a follow on, i am rebuilding the master brake cylinder (66, manual single pot) and the kit has no instructions - makes sense since there are only 4 pieces - yet, i can't remember if the black cup goes onto the spring such that the end of the spring sits inside the cup or the other way around - does anyone know?
thanks!- Top

The spring mounts inside the cupped side of the seal.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

If you have a smart phone, take pictures as you disassemble.Joe/anyone - as a follow on, i am rebuilding the master brake cylinder (66, manual single pot) and the kit has no instructions - makes sense since there are only 4 pieces - yet, i can't remember if the black cup goes onto the spring such that the end of the spring sits inside the cup or the other way around - does anyone know?

Re: 66 - brake calipers
Thanks Joe
that is the way i happened to do it...but after bleeding the system i cannot get a firm pedal
i thought maybe it was supposed to go the other way
is there a stop on the brake pedal other than the floor? - mine does not have one...my only other thought is that i pushed the plunger in too far and broke a seal?
because other than that, i seem to be good - i am using a mighty vac (mini) and am getting clear fluid no bubbles, closing bleeder under vacuum and on to the next one...all are good
no visible leaks....frustrating - but the brake pedal has not very much resistance and travels all the way to the floor....??- Top

There is no lower stop for the brake pedal other than the floor.
You should bleed the master cylinder OFF the car.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
