c2 door panel removal
I did a little searching on here but did not come up with an answer, does the door panel pull straight out from clips that hold it on,slide in one direction and pull or some other way? I have pull my panel and don't want to break it trying to get it off.

You must lift up on it a half inch or so to disengage the top of it from the top edge of the inner door fiberglass panel. Be sure all the screws are removed first. -

This is just from memory but there are a couple of 90 degree clips on the bottom of the door panel, screws in the forward and rear along the edge and then you must remove the vent and window handle by removing the clips. You must remove the handles by using a clip tool or a flat screwdriver to pop off the clip. There are also two screws under armrest and two at the door pull. Then by pulling out on bottom the door panel should be removed by pulling up. Be careful and good luck.

just installed mine on the 65 conv.
1st place some tape at the top of the door right where the window wipe fuzzy ends going towards the rear of the car. This is the uppermost painted area at the top of the door. When go to to reinstall you panel this is the area that you might chip up easily so be careful. This will protect from any scratches upon removal or installation.
I used a Snap-On stepped fork clip removal tool to remove my clips. You will have 3 of them. 1 for main window crank, 1 for the vent window crank, and 1 for the door lock knob. Be careful and do not break the plastic retainer/seal behind the knobs.
Once you get the window cranks and lock knob off and the plastic covers place all into a bag, bowl, whatever or you will start losing parts.
I know. Like they said above remove the door pulls - they are hold on with phillips screws; special note there is a right and a left pull so mark them for reinstallation (my originals do have a L and R on them). Unscrew and remove the chrome door release ball also and place in your bucket or bag. Now again you have the 2 longer phillips screws for the arm rest like noted above. These also have a flat washer under the head (original screws have a head like a carburetor screw - my repros from a dealer in New York were totally incorrect - self tappers originals were not a self tapper I used my tap set and cleaned up the holes real nice), remove these screws.
The panel itself is held on by a total 5 clips: 3 on the bottom of the door and 2 on the front edge above the top hinge. These are also phillips screws. Once you have removed all this your door panel is ready for removal; I get an extra set of hands (the Mrs.) as inevitably Murphy's law might happen to you otherwise, it is nice to have her to help me. Pull the door panel out from the bottom, as it comes out I make sure that the door release pull arm is thru the hole (mine got hung up in there, especially on re-installation), the window crank shafts both main and vent are thru their respective holes, and lastly the door lock knob hole, then work the panel further upward and it will come out of the window opening and be free.
Place it in a safe place where it won't get stepped on, chewed on by the dog, or ran over by the car. Mine fit nice in the rear cargo area.
In your bucket you should have: main window crank handle with clip and plastic, vent window crank handle with clip and plastic, door pull handle with 2 screws, door release round ball, door lock knob with clip and plastic, 5 door clip retainer screws, 2 door armrest screws & w/washers. Note if the mounting clips (5 total) any or all fall out of the door panel when you remove it don't panic you will see the slot on the backside of the panel and can easily re-insert them.
Put your bucket or bag with all the parts somewhere in a safe place - just remember where you put it when you need it - been there also -
